M6 Part II - My Site

For this project, I designed my personal portfolio geared towards using it in my professional life. The site that is created so far is a great starting point for something that I can actually use in my real world. I started the site with a background and graphic of a gerbera daisy, which were most appealing to me and represents the type of imagery that I like. I took an image of a blue daisy and used various photoshop techniques including select & mask, add adjustment layer, adjust hue settings, and then make the background transparent.

I then proceed with the portfolio section with my work history and education summary. This is the area that I can expand upon after this class is completed.

I added a section for "Hobbies" so that I could work in additional photoshop techniques that I gained this semester. I used the Basic Photoshop training video where we learned to select using the quick select and masking options, as well as refining edges with the smart edge detection. I used these techniques for my first two images to make my subject stand out from the background. I then enhanced an image from the ocean, by adding colorization to the water and sky to make it more appealing.

I finished off the site with the required contact me information, and completed the proper links for each of the social media sites. I added some additional Wix background image options to the strips that had a plain background to give it some more color.

I hope you enjoy my site!

M6 Web Site Project

For this project I would like to create a portfolio website that is more professional oriented. I would ultimately like to expand upon the pages that I start with for this project, but would like to have an about me section with a brief summary of my professional experience, a portfolio section that lists my jobs and education, and then the contact me section. I will also add a "hobbies" section to demonstrate the effects I have learned while taking this course.

Photo Retouch

For this project, I chose the photo retouch option. I used a picture of my biological grandfather than neither my mother or I have met. To accomplish the results, I first used the camera raw filter to make general adjustments to the photo. I also used spot healing to remove some of the damage in the photo. I finished the process by repeating the add adjustment layer, choosing curve or hue/saturation, and masking the selection to get the results that I wanted in the respective areas. I finished the image by brightening the snow and polishing off the tie to make it pop more than the original.

Photo Retouching

For this assignment, I decided to do the photo retouching assignment, as I feel this will add more relevant value to my skills toolbox. The image I have chosen is from the 1950's, and is of my mother's biological father, who she never knew. This picture was given to us by my grandmother. I thought it would be a great subject for this assignment, to see what I can do to breathe some life back into the photo.

Book Cover Redesign - Part II

For my book cover project, I chose the book "Hush" by Kate White. I went for a vision that instill more fear and suspense. I used the horror font and man in the shadows on the spine to accomplish this. I hope you like it. Looking forward to your feedback.

Book Cover Redesign

For this project, I have chosen to redesign the cover for the book "Hush" by Kate White.

This book is about a woman who works at a fertility clinic, and is four months into the divorce process. The suspense/thriller story has many twists and turns, and is a real "who done it" mystery. I decided to take the cover and turn it into something with more meaning. I would like to use a green hue to the background as green is the color for fertility. The fertility clinic is a major part of the mystery and involves more crimes than just the murder of the head physician. While the main character sets out on a mission to find out who the murderer is, she finds herself in the path of a stalker who keeps appearing and scaring her. I would like to include the shadow of a man on the cover to signify this important character as well. I would also like to change the image of the woman on the front to one holding her finger over her mouth as if saying shhhhhhh. And then I will be turning the font into something more terrifying with blood dripping from the letters.

Awareness Poster - Roundup

As promised, I have created an awareness poster that pertains to the recent studies that show Roundup contributes to the cause of cancer. In my poster, I have a bottle of Roundup being sprayed. I brought in the dandelions from another image to show their various stages of their life and death, and I added cancer cell images to show that when you are spraying this chemical, you are actually spraying cancer. The idea behind dandelions on one side and cancer cells on the other is to elude to the transition, or trade off, that you can have dandelions, or cancer. I used the phrase Roundup: Killing weeds since 1974 and changed weeds to people. I used the font that was similar to the Roundup font on the bottle to relate to the brand, and chose a blood red type strike through on "weeds" to grab the attention of the viewer.
